Our Story

San Jorge Cigars was born from heritage, resilience, and the quiet strength passed down through generations.

My mother grew up working the tobacco fields of Cuba, learning early the patience, discipline, and respect required to cultivate tobacco properly. In the early 1970s, after leaving Cuba, she carried that knowledge to New York, where small cigar factories and finishing houses were still operating. There, immigrant families preserved the craft—handling and working tobacco far from the island, but grounded in the same traditions.

My father’s journey began in Uruguay, where responsibility came early. By the age of ten, he was already working to help support his family. During those years, he was given a small San Jorge (Saint George) statue, a symbol of protection, strength, and perseverance that stayed with him throughout life. When he later made his way to New York through hard work and sacrifice, that symbol remained close. He eventually had a San Jorge medallion made, carrying it as a reminder of where he came from and what it takes to move forward. That same medallion is worn by me today.

I am a first-generation Cuban American and a second-generation tobacconist. San Jorge Cigars honors these paths—Cuba, Uruguay, and New York—through cigars built with patience, balance, and respect for the leaf.

Our cigars are modern, Cuban-inspired expressions, developed slowly and intentionally. No shortcuts. No excess. Just discipline, craftsmanship, and purpose.
